I’m a BzzAgent and I was sent coupons to  try products from the Private Selection line from Kroger, for free!

I tried the the Private Selection Pineapple Upside Down Cake!

This cake was absolutely lovely! Of the 3 different things I tried from Private Selection, this was by far the best! The cake was moist and the caramel sauce was delicious. The only problem, which wasn’t really a problem, more of an oddity was that the pineapple on top stayed cold. Which wasn’t bad, just a little odd. Other than that, the cake was absolutely delectable. The box suggested serving it with  a scoop of vanilla ice cream, which I must say was the perfect complement.  This retails for about $3.50, which is $1.75 for your own mini cake. Which I feel like isn’t too expensive, if you want to treat yourself to something yummy but don’t want to bake an entire cake or anything, I would say this is a good substitute!

I tried the the Private Selection Southwestern Style Chicken Trumpets.

These retail for $6.99 for 9 trumpets thats more than 75 cents per trumpet. Had I not had a coupon for these and actually spent my money, I would have been pissed. These were awful! The only part that I liked was the tortilla/pastry that the unrecognizable mush was in. These were mushy with no flavor. These were not even close to palatable. I shared these with my family because I could barely eat two of these. My mom hated them and so did my brother. So with me these were a total miss. Don’t waste your money here. Also $7 for 9 appetizers, good or bad, is a total rip off. Even if a pack of these cost 50 cents, I wouldn’t repurchase these. I’m not saying all Private Selection appetizers are bad, but these ones are.

The first Private Selcetion item I tried was the Pepperoni & Roasted Garlic pizza. First off I want to start off by saying Private Selection pizzas were nearly impossible to find. I had to go to 3 different Krogers in order to find one and then there were only 2 choices.

Picture number one is the box. This pizza retails for $4.99
The second picture is what it looks like before you bake it.
The third picture is what it looks like once it is baked.

Overall  I liked this pizza. I would’ve liked if it had had more garlic in it, since it is advertised as a roasted garlic pizza. The pizza also came with little balls of mozzarella on top, While I appreciate the use of real cheese, the balls of cheese don’t really melt at the same rate as the other shredded cheese on the pizza. Once you cut the pizza the melted balls basically slipped off the pizza.  While I enjoyed the pizza, I would say it’s not really worth the price because it is quite small. I would compare the size to the one of those Totino’s party pizzas. I would rather just wait for a DiGiorno pizza to go on sale, so I could get a more substantial pizza for the same price. I would say no need to rush out and buy one of these, but if you have a coupon it wouldn’t hurt to give it a shot. It’s really not something to call home about.

I’m a BzzAgent!

I was sent the new Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm to review.

Let’s start with the packaging. It is phenomenal, what girl doesn’t love bright fun colors!? Good choice Maybelline. I like that the cap is clear, so if you are to choose one of the tinted balms you can actually see what the color is.

I am going to talk about the colors one by one and then the product as a whole.

Cherry Me-
It is a red tinted lip balm with an artificial cherry scent. I personally think it smells like medicine and I am not particularly inclined to put it on my lips. It’s not necessarily this product, I just don’t like cherry lip products.

Peach Kiss-
It is a pink-peach tinted lip balm. The scent is hard to place, it kind of reminds me of the smell my Grandmother’s lipstick, not in a bad way though. Of all of the lip balms, I think this is my favorite color, I think it looks the nicest on my lips. When it is on your lips it works in the same way a nude lipstick does.

Pink Punch-
It is a bright pink tinted lip balm. The scent really reminds me of the Lip Smackers I used to use as a kid, not entirely sure if that is good thing or a bad thing. It might be a weird description but it smells like the way pink lemonade looks. I don’t know if that makes sense to anyone but I’m sticking with it.

Quenched-
This one has no color tint, natural lip balm. I’m not sure what the smell is but it smells like shea butter with something else. It smells quite nice, well like a general lip balm scent.

Peppermint-
This is another one with no tint, natural lip balm. Three guesses what this one smells like? Peppermint! You got it! It’s not an overwhelming peppermint scent, it is actually quite subtle. Of all of the lip balms this is the one I like best.

Based on the packaging alone, I wanted so badly to love these lip balms. Sadly I don’t. I don’t even like them. These are something there is no way I will purchase these in the future. Things like packaging I am a complete sucker for, and had I not had the opportunity to try these for free I am certain I would have bought one to try. I would have been disappointed in the purchase after spending around $4, when you can get much better lip balms/chapsticks for $2.

When you first put on the lip balm it feels amazing and incredibly hydrating. That quickly wears off, I put some on before I started writing this review, about 15-20 minutes ago and I can already feel my lips drying out. On Maybelline’s website they say that the product offers 8 hour hydration, not even close. That is my only real issue with this product. I just don’t purchase things on name alone, if it’s not good I am not going to use it. I will stick to my $1.50 Blistex, thank you very much.

Hopefully that is helpful to those thinking about buying this product! If you have had a different experience with these, let me know. Maybe I have weird lips or something.

KROGER’S THE TRULY AWESOME™ HOMESTYLE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

I really don’t have much to say about these cookies.  I liked them but wasn’t necessarily blown away by them. If I had to compare them to a cookie already on the market I would say they are a larger version of Chips-A-Hoy.

I must say that the packaging really turns me off. I know that in the grocery store I would walk right past these cookies. They look cheap which would lead me to believe they taste cheap.

My thought after using Maybelline’s Great Lash Lots of Lashes Mascara for two days.

The first photo is a picture of the new little grabber applicator. I can’t decide whether or not I like this applicator. The way I put on my mascara is always with my right hand but to get this applicator to work the right way I either need to flip my wrist or change hands, neither of which are things I like doing.

I think I can ignore that I don’t like flipping my wrist to apply the mascara for the results I got. I think this formula gets some great results. In my opinion it lengthens more that it volumizes. But I also got some volume from it, just not as much as I would have liked.

The photos of my eyes were taken after wearing the mascara for about 6 hours. As you may be able to see there is some flaking below the eyes. I think if you don’t put mascara on your bottom lashes that wouldn’t be a problem but I do put mascara on my bottom lashes. It’s not a ton of flaking but it is enough to be aggravating.

When I was applying the mascara there was some clumping but the formula is wet enough that they can be separated before it sets. I also like that the formula allows for you to build up the mascara, so you can go for a more natural look OR you can build up the volume. I tried to build up the volume but it ended up a little clumpy.

I am going to try and use the mascara every day this month, and I will keep you updated with any other thoughts I have about the product. So far, I am liking it. I really hope I grow to love it but, we’ll see.

I’m A BzzAgent!

It’s an amazing website that spreads word about new products via word of mouth. And I got my kit in the mail today and I have to say I am BEYOND ECSTATIC!

The two products I am reviewing are the Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm and Maybelline Great Lash Lots of Lashes Mascara!

I have been an avid purchaser of Maybelline Mascaras since I started wearing makeup in sixth grade. I bought the original great lash and a white eyeliner in sixth grade. My taste in eyeliner has certainly changed but my taste in mascara hasn’t. I still use Great Lash as a fall back mascara.

I often try different mascaras, if it has a comercial I have probably tried it. I am constantly looking for the best drug store mascara I can find and I want my moneys worth. In a mascara I look for the perfect balance between volumizing and lengthening. Other Maybelline mascaras have been able to do this for me. I have tried most of them. Falsies, Collosal, One By One, Lash Discovery, Lash Stiletto and the Original Great Lash to name a few. I know my Maybelline Mascaras.

I have yet to try the new Great Lash Lots of Lashes Mascara but I have plans on doing a full review of it as soon as I try it for a couple of days and test how long it wears for and things along those lines.

As for the Baby Lips Lip Balm, I haven’t tried many lip products by Maybelline but I am a huge fan of lip balm so I will also do an in depth review of the lip balm.

I am super excited for this campaign! Maybelline is probably my favorite cosmetic company! Can’t wait!

Come back soon! And I should have a mascara review up for you! Meanwhile check out Maybelline’s Facebook Page for more information and fun activities!
